Jeremy Renner to Return for Season 3 of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ After Recovery from Accident

Actor Jeremy Renner, who suffered 30 broken bones in a New Year’s Day snowplow accident, is set to return to his starring role in the Taylor Sheridan drama Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount+. The series, which aired its second season in March, has been officially renewed for a third season on the platform.

Renner shared on social media in May that he was continuing to make progress on his recovery and had begun lightly jogging on a treadmill for the first time since he was hospitalized. A return date for season three has not yet been determined due to Renner’s recovery and ongoing labor disputes involving writers and actors with studios and streamers.

In Mayor of Kingstown, Renner plays Mike McLusky, a character in a drama that explores a family who maintains peace in a town filled with street gangs, prisoners, guards and cops. Paramount+ ranks Kingstown as its third-best-performing original drama on the platform, following only Sheridan’s 1923 and Tulsa King.

Mayor of Kingstown was co-created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon. All serve as executive producers along with Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson and Regina Corrado. The show is produced in-house by MTV Studios and 101 Studios.

Other Paramount+ shows created by Sheridan include Special Ops: Lioness, 1923, 1883, Tulsa King and the upcoming Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Land Man. Sheridan is also behind Yellowstone, which airs as an original series on Paramount Network.
