Priscilla Presley Emotionally Reacts to ‘Priscilla’ Film Premiere at Venice Film Festival

In an emotionally charged evening at the Venice Film Festival, Priscilla Presley, the subject of the new A24 indie film ‘Priscilla’, was moved to tears during a seven-minute standing ovation. The premiere, attended by director Sofia Coppola, and actors Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, who portray Priscilla and Elvis respectively, was an event to remember.

Elordi, best known for his role in ‘Euphora’, attracted significant attention from the crowds, drawing chants of his name and showcasing a star quality reminiscent of a ’90s Brad Pitt. The Australian actor’s popularity was evident as he signed autographs, took selfies and even returned a dropped Polaroid to a fan, in a move that indicated he has embodied the gentlemanly spirit of the King of Rock and Roll that he portrays.

Presley, who also attended the press conference earlier in the day, revealed the emotional toll of watching a film about her life and love. She praised Coppola’s work and the authenticity of the story, reflecting on her own experience of falling in love with Elvis at a tender age of 14.

‘Priscilla’ has received rave reviews post its Venice premiere. Based on Priscilla Presley’s autobiography, ‘Elvis and Me’, the film offers an intimate look into her life and love affair with Elvis Presley. Coppola’s film takes viewers on a journey from Priscilla’s early years as a teenage army brat stationed in West Germany to her arrival at Graceland.

The film marks a reunion between Coppola and A24, having previously collaborated on 2013’s ‘The Bling Ring’. ‘Priscilla’ acts as a counter story to last year’s ‘Elvis’, which focused on the singer’s perspective. The film is set to open in movie theaters on October 27 and will also be the centerpiece screening of the New York Film Festival in October.
